Cinco de Mayo is often a festive celebration commemorating the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla back in 1862. For a lot of people, it's another reason to get together and eat and drink!

We've gathered some great tips and tricks to host the best Cinco De Mayo party possible:

  • Spread The Word
    • The best part of a party is all the people there! Be sure to invite your neighbors, coworkers and friends to your Cinco celebration.
    • Customize tickets for a fun invitation to the event that they can bring with them for entry.
    • Send guests a customized wristband for them to wear to make your event seem more official!
  • Decorations
    • Color is king at a Cinco de Mayo party - think bright greens, reds, pinks, yellows, oranges, and purples!
    • Use a fun printed table cloth to liven up tables
    • Provide sombreros for your guests, because who doesn't love wearing a sombrero?!
    • Get cactus plants and flowers for more natural decor and place them on the tables.
  • Food
    • Dips - cheese dip, guacamole, and six bean dip are all great appetizers to serve with chips before the entrees!
    • Enchiladas with Fresh Mango Salsa - a fruity and delicious twist on the traditional enchiladas
    • Tacos! There are endless varieties of tacos - try shrimp, fish, chicken, pork, or even brisket!
  • Drinks
    • The obvious drink of choice for a Cinco de Mayo party is a margarita, but there are many fun twists you can try!
      • Coconut Margarita - Coconut water, cream of coconut, shredded coconut, tequila, lime and orange make this one refreshing and tantalizing drink!
      • Pink Margarita - Pink lemonade in a classic margarita
      • Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots - real strawberries filled with boozy strawberry jello? These shots are not only delicious, they're fun!
